Hosting Your Own Event

Don't see any There activities that you like? If you have a Bronze Fun Pass or higher, you can make some fun of your own. Have a party in your rented house or clubhouse if you want to hang out, look at the view, and enjoy some spirited conversation with your friends. Reserve a FunZone if you want to have a picnic, stage a play, or run a Buggy race.
Each house and FunZone is a little different, so you may want to look at a few before you decide. Some FunZones even come equipped with race kits and paintgun kits so you can create your own courses!

Finding a FunZone for your Event

To schedule a FunZone event, you must have a Bronze-level Fun Pass or higher in the Frequent Fun Program. Go to ThereCentral's Activities page, and click on the link "Schedule an Event."
If you already know the name of the FunZone you want to use, you can skip ahead to the FunZone listings. Otherwise, find the perfect FunZone for the event you're planning by entering a few basic search parameters: Venue Type, Region, Event Time, and Event Duration, including Prep Time (if applicable). During prep time, only the event host is allowed in the FunZone, allowing the host to prepare (set up a racecourse, redecorate a clubhouse, etc.). When you've set up your search parameters, click "Search for a FunZone."
This will return a search results page, including the address, and a description of all the FunZones matching your criteria. If you'd like to check out a particular FunZone, click its name to get a little more information about the place, and see what events are currently scheduled there. If you'd like to visit the FunZone, click the "Visit" button to teleport to that location. After you've found the perfect FunZone, click the corresponding "Add New Event" button.
Note: FunZones in There are run by designated Zone Operators. To reserve a spot in a FunZone for your event, you need to have permission from that Zone Operator. Some Zone Operators (including There-owned FunZones) allow
      everyone
to host an event there. Others may restrict their FunZones to Event Hosts they select themselves. To contact the Zone Operator of a given FunZone, read the sign in front of the FunZone. It will display the name of that Zone's Operator. The number of FunZones you are allowed to reserve is determined by your
Now it's time to set up your event! First, enter when you would like to hold the event, how long it will last, how much prep time is required, and click "Schedule Event."
There are two sets of options: Standard and Advanced. Advanced options are completely optional, and can be displayed by clicking "Show Advanced Options."
Standard Options:

Event Title - A short name for your event that will be displayed in listings

Description - A slightly longer description of your event

      Advanced Options:

Team assignment

None - No teams. Or players can choose their own teams at the start of the event (but will not receive colored jerseys to tell their teams apart).

Automatic Teams - If this option is selected, all avatars participating in a given event are assigned to a temporary, or "pick-up", team. Teams are differentiated by colored jerseys, which are automatically distributed to the players. The event host has the power to reassign people from one team to another.

Groups - Got a group set up in There? Play as a group against other groups in There! You'll get different colored jerseys so you can tell your teams apart.

Self-running event (default NO) - Check this to indicate that you are setting up an event that will not require a host to be present (like a racecourse).

Club Members can Co-Host Event (default NO) - Select this to enable members of one of your clubs to co-host the event. If you select this option, you will also need to indicate which club is hosting the event. If you are not the leader of any club, this option will not be available. For more info, see
          Co-hosts
          , below.

In/Out Privileges - Selecting this option allows your invitees to come and go from the event zone without being removed from your event. This is especially useful if your event involves using areas outside the event zone. If an invitee leaves and does not return, you can always remove that person manually to free up space in your event.

Invitation Only - Invitation only events are not listed in Happening Now, and do not show up in events search results pages. Only members that have been invited by the event host may enter the event.

Skill Restrictions - you can restrict your event to participants of a certain Skill or FunPass level. You can only select Skill restrictions that you qualify for yourself.

Once you've set the options for your event, click the "Schedule Event" button to go to the final step: Confirm your Event.
On the final page, you'll have the option to go back and edit event details, cancel the event, or confirm the event. Click the "Schedule Event" button to confirm and list the event (invitation-only events will not appear in the listings). You're done!

You can manage all your invitees while your event is in progress. Just hit the event details page from your Activities menu (look for your event under "My Schedule") to assign VIP status to your favored invitees, and remove or even ban an unwanted guest.

VIP Status: Want to give someone the red-carpet treatment? VIPs get preferential entry into your event, no matter how late they RSVP. The system will hold empty spots in the event for all your VIPs for the duration of your event. (Note: if the event is full when you assign VIP status to someone, they will move to the top of the waiting list).

Remove: Select this option to teleport someone out of your event and/or zone. That member may re-enter, as long as there is space in the event. Otherwise, they will be added to the waiting list. This is a good option if you are just issuing a warning, or giving an invitee time to cool off.

Ban: Select this option to ban someone completely from your event and/or zone for the duration of your event. The banned member will not be allowed to re-enter or sign up for the event in progress. Once the event is over, they will be permitted enter the zone again.

Now you can get a group and host a bunch of cool events together! You can even start a company if you like. As a group leader, you can indicate that members of your group/business can co-host a specific event. Those co-hosts can then independently host events in FunZones that you've reserved, or help you host your events.

Your group members do not receive notification that they have been designated a co-host for an event. It is up to you as group leader to contact the members of your group, inform them of this opportunity, and make any logistics arrangements (such as a duty roster and/or payment schemes).

If you plan ahead, you can create a group or business, reserve FunZones, place a "Help Wanted" ad in the Classifieds (see
          Classifieds Help
), and invite applicants to join your group and host events with/for you.

All ticket sales for the event go directly to you as the group leader. It is up to you to distribute the money to your other club members, using the "transfer funds" option. (Click the Members link from your group info page to select the members you would like to transfer funds to).

Members of your group can always host one of your group's events, even if the group member joins the group while the event is underway. Similarly, if a member leaves a group, they no longer have the ability to co-host (even if they signed up to co-host the event by communicating with the group leader).

Your group members do not pay to enter your group events.

When a group member enters a FunZone where an event is being run by their group leader, and if the group leader has allowed group members to host, then that member is automatically made a co-host, and will receive a system message that says "You are now a co-host for this event."

Co-hosts are subject to zone capacity restrictions (meaning that if a lot of your group members show up, you'll have less room for non-group members). This means that you will need to communicate with your group members and really plan in advance if you are going to co-host events with other members.

Co-hosts have the same powers as a host. Co-hosts can: reassign attendees to another team, remove an attendee from the FunZone, update and clear race results, and set up or change a racecourse.
